Exploring Power & Privilege in Everyday Life

Updated: Jul 17, 2018

To commemorate Women’s Day, ICWM Mumbai Unit organized a workshop consisting of activity and discussion on the theme “Exploring Power & Privilege in Everyday Life.” The workshop was held at YWCA, Asha Kiran, on 5th March, 2016, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Ms. Brinelle D’Souza, who teaches at the Centre for Health and Mental Health School of Social Work, Tata Institute of Social Sciences. (TISS), with areas of interest as health rights and activism, health equity and marginalized communities, conducted the workshop.

With our country going through tumultuous times because of the abuse of power and privilege by persons in the law enforcement and political structures, as ICWM, we women feel called to fulfill our role in bringing about the rule of justice and peace, and relief to victims of violence. Brinelle took us through exercises to understand the dynamics of power to help shape our perspectives in bringing about change in our society and country today.

28 women participated in the workshop.
